Forli- post 9

On this stop we are here not to go site seeing but to connect with old friends, and for me relax!
We are staying with an old friend of my grandmother, named Stefania. When my gramma was younger, she used take in people from Italy and teach them English, offering them a place to stay while they went to school. When the day turned to night and dinner rolled around, we met with Bruna, my mother's "Italian mother" and my "Italian grandmother." My mom spent several summers and a whole year with her when she was a teenager. When they talked, I tried to figure out some of the Italian because I had learned some of the language before the trip. As they talked in Italian, I scarfed down wonderful food, trying to keep up with the fast paced eating Italians. When we were there I bought a couple of books to practice my Italian. As our trip is winding down I think back to some of the things I have seen in the course of the two weeks we spent here.

Venice-post 9

Here on last leg of the trip, we go to the sinking city of Venice. Yes the home of Vivaldi, the place of the gondola, and yes the city that looks like a fish from a bird's eye view. In this city of many things to do, we went up the St. Marks Bell tower and got a great view of the city. Next, we went to the Doge's palace. Venice was once a city state, and this is where the Doge- the Venetian ruler, lived. With another tour we learned of how it had burnt down and been rebuilt, and of the prison right below where the Doge slept. Next we went to a Concerto of Vivaldi's the Four Seasons. It was a beautiful piece of music and I hope to hear more in my trips to come. Another thing we did was go up and down the Grand Canal on a vaporetto and walked around near the Ponte Rialto, the largest bridge on the Grand Canal. When our time came to go to the airport, my eyes grew misty with tears as we watched Venice grow further away.

Roma-post 8

The next place we went was called Roma. There we spent our time in a small apartment near the center of town. We had three nights in this very large city,so we did all of the highlights of the trip. first we went to the Forum, this hold some of the worlds most preserved ruins of the many Roman Emperors that ounce walked on the very spots we were that day. After taking a tour we learned many things about these Roman Forum, and of how the ancient Romans lived. The next day we went to the Vatican museum and took a tour of the great Sistine chapel and the Vatican museum. The may works of art in this museum where quit amazing as each one had a different story. A key person in the making of the Sistine chapel was a young man named Michelangelo as he did an amazing job painting the ceiling of the Sistine chapel. In this chapel it was extremely crowed as we could barly find our tour in the huddled masses. The Trevi fountain was a beautiful site to behold, when we were there I threw a coin behind my back as is tradition. We never got to go to the Colosseum but we marveled at the outside of this masterpiece. Next time I find myself in Roma, I will deffinently try to got to the Colosseum.

Pisa-post 6

on the wonderful Wednesday afternoon we stopped in a small town named Pisa. I know I make it sound like its no big deal and I'm wasting time to write about it but it is home to a beloved monument named the leaning tower of Pisa. this crooked bell tower is a widely know tower all across the world. We climbed the many steps to the top of the tower and saw a breath taking view. At the top of this tower we learned that in sunk into mud therefore giving it a lean. I'm glad I saw this and got a chance to climb it. I will never forget it.

Happy Birthday!-post 5

Today is my mothers birthday. After we went to the 5th town of la cinque terre we had a small party among ourselves. I bought my mom a card,a small cake, and a expensive jacket that she had planned to buy. I also asked if could do anything else for her and she asked me to write of her birthday in my little blog she is letting me do. So this being one of the reasons we came to Italy I thought it best to right of this small event of our wondrfull trip in the paridise that is called Italy.
